Creative Titleing

Two Posts in one day! when it rains it pours.

I don't wanna just number these posts as they come, but naming  them can be messy without a system....oh well.

Heres another drawing of a friend i did ...think the side got a little blurry in the scanner sorry.
Im really enjoying doing these

Also here a comic i did while staying late at work..involving the things i hated as a child but now find particularly comforting.

Worky Sketchs #1

More pictures from the workplace...best to keep drawing between render times keep the mind sharp or some such thing. I like to all em the Turkey Worky Sketchs
Insight into my brain during work
I've been messing with face styles and using actual photo references of my friends to make caricatures with an overall similar style but also letting personality come through a bit... so a lack of consistency still remains...i realise given you the actual photos i use as reference would help...but i'm not sure if they appreciate being plastered up on a blog, so if you know me you'll probably know them anyway

We were talking bout Laika the Doggy Cosmonaut the other day.....SPAAAAACCEE DOOOOGG

And now in TECHNICOLOR!

Treesleepers video

A couple of weeks back i helped shoot a music video for a local band The Treesleepers , Dir. Maeve Hickey. Was a nice well planned shoot if i do say so ( i didn't plan it), and we managed to get a nice day for it too. If i had had the time i think i would have liked to edit the piece myself as there were some seriously nice shots in there, but alas time is money and i'm mercenary when it comes to cash soooo left in the hands of the other.

The editing was finished there recently so we are now privy to the finished product Enjoy

And here are some stills from the day.

Sexier?!

Something for the weekend!

i better give some context...More then often you get a client who insists  on using the word sexy to describe the the job they want you to do, which is always weird in animation terms.
...."we want it to be sexy and wild and different" I understand what there asking for but i wish they wouldn't phrase like the info on a x-rated video.
......I think we may end up going a bit far

Experiments in Line Quality

Here are some sketchs, testing out line weight and varying pen types... more of a mess about see what looks nicest vs what looks finished as well as a colour vs raw idea. Also if you like the characters of "Don't Starve"  i'm basing these sketchs around that look...just not quiteas scribbly.

First up a self portrait of sorts.....i do this more often then i'd like to admit, but at €2.50 a t-shirt in Pennies how can i afford not to!

Gangsters Paradise is like a shirt ripping cryptonite
Next up a viking, note the addition of line weight in pic 2......if your into that

Lastly a look through process from scanned sketch to finish render
Love rough pencil...

increased line wight and shading...
final render...tho as you can see sometimes colour can just be gaudy

On a personal, yet still work related, note I saw this band a week or so ago and they were awesome! There called PHOX and there from Wisconsin, i'd love to use their music in something, but it have to be just the right piece. Enjoy.

The past....or a big re-hash

I got busy with work! So for those of you who haven't seen, here are some of the older sketchs that got me to where i am now, in no particular order and lacking some context!

I did a book cover once

As seen on the back of a match packet..fire actively seeking children it would seem

this is pretty much about my granny.....she gonna outlive us all

I once had an idea for a series based on living with my sister and her boyfriend during college...didnt really take off

KITTY IN THE CITY..adventures of giant toxic kitty

BFG
 some movement and gestural now...

Old we fight crime sketchs to finish it all off....

Hope you enjoyed now you've seen the old i'll have to start uploading the new...dang hope this bought me some time.

Ladies...

I've always been better at drawing creatures...actual atomically correct people not so much, especially ladies. But i practised and practised....and practised a little more and eventually i didn't absolutely suck...just sorta... so PROGRESS!

I literally have sketchbooks full of attempts. Part of the problem is I never really settled on a style when it came to them and i'm still exploring a lot of different ways to go about it.

Anyway here are a few of my sketchs....

Drawing hair is like my favourite part

In and ideal world I be able to draw ladies effortlessly like Dean Yeagle or Kevin Dart, who's work is top of my list, Yeagle probably due to the Russ Meyers in me and Dart just cause his stuff is awesome.

Also on a side note i watched "Killing Zelda Sparks" purely based on seeing the poster for it which i thought was pretty slick. Also the movie was pretty good if a little disjointed but that wouldn't bother me.
